Visa Requirements

There are plenty of citizens of countries who don't need a visa to enter Ecuador (eg Canada, United States, European Union countries, Japan, Australia, New Zealand). Some citizens will, however, have to acquire a visa before entry. You can find details of which countries here.

Students from countries that don't require a visa can stay in Ecuador up to 180 days per year without any further visa. Upon entry, you will be granted 90 days, which can be renewed at one of the immigration offices in the main cities.

If a student wishes to study in Ecuador for more than 180 days, it's necessary to acquire a student visa in advance from the student's country of origin. Spanish schools can help with the paperwork for these visas. In this scenario, only Spanish schools recognised by the Ministry of Education can process the application. We recommend you contact your Ecuadorian consulate or embassy for more information.
