Parque La Carolina

This park is located in the north-central sector of the city, in the financial district, north of La Mariscal but south of the airport. It’s hemmed by Avenidas Los Shyris, Eloy Alfaro, Amazonas and Naciones Unidas and extends over 67 hectares.
It receives a huge amount of visitors at the weekends. The park has facilities for a number of sports, including football, basketball, rollerskating, aerobics, horseback rides and a cycle/jogging track around the perimeter. There are also children’s games, and a small lake for rowing boats. There are quite a few places for enjoying a snack, too.
The park hosts thefirst-class Botanical Gardens and nearby Vivarium, and the Museum of Natural Sciences.
