Spanish Schools

Say ‘hola’ to Quito

Quito has long been a destination of choice for those looking to improve their Spanish language skills. Tens of thousands of Spanish students arrive every year. The capital offers professional schools, competitive rates and a great base for exploring our small but mega-diverse country. To improve services for those wanting to join the 500 million Spanish-speakers around the world, an association of Spanish schools was recently created.

The AECEE (Asociación Ecuatoriana de Centros de Enseñanza de Español – Ecuadorian Association of Spanish Centres of Learning) comprises 10 members in the capital, all of whom are accredited by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education, meet the highest standards for language teaching, and have established a reputation for excellence over many years. The Association aims to improve the quality of teaching in Quito, to help students find the establishment that’s right for them, and to promote Ecuadorian culture in general..

The schools all offer individual or group classes, and combine learning with field trips, excursions, visits to interesting cultural sites within the city, cooking, dancing and many other activities.

Schools prepare students who want to give the DELE (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera) examination in Quito in the months of May, August and November. The DELE is an official title granted by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports. The diploma demonstrates competency and command of the Spanish language and has three levels in all. It is the most respected Spanish language diploma in the world.

Schools forming part of this new and highly-respected Association are:

Andean Global Studies: AGS
Atahualpa Spanish School
La Lengua Spanish School
Instituto Superior de Español
Quito S.I.Spanish Institute-Centro Asociado Cervantes
Colonial Spanish School
