Quito's Idiosyncratic Traditions

Quito, with its strong sense of the past and its millenarian heritage, is proud of the traditions which its citizens still keep very much alive. Some of these are the big festivals that take place every year, like the huge Easter Week processions or the bullfighting during the Fiestas de Quito, while others are more small-scale and informal, such as the competition for best nativity scene in various neighbourhoods or the wooden go-cart races held on the city' steep streets.

As a visitor to our city, these traditional events and activities are a great way to get to know us and our idiosyncrasies. We present a few here for you to look out for during your visit.
