La Mariscal Neighbourhood

La Mariscal - Quito nocturno

Exciting, seductive, fun

If in Quito pleasure has its place, it is the barrio (neighbourhood) of La Mariscal, where there is no end to the many alternatives for having fun, meeting friends or shopping.  It’s the hottest spot in town for flirting, tourism, eating out or dancing. In Quito slang it’s simply called “la zona” – the zone.

For certain travelers, the shops and eateries selling Hindu spices, Arab humus, and Swiss raclettes inspire thoughts of far distant lands, producing new sensations and stimulating the imagination. Others, on the other hand, are surprised to find in Quito familiar smells and flavours, a fragment of their own identity. Whatever the case might be, all the restaurants of La Mariscal have something in common:  creativity.

Ska, salsa, merengue, and classic rock are among the many musical items on La Mariscal’s menu, famous for its live performances, with many bars providing a daily program of shows.

As well as its plethora of bars, restaurants, discos, boutiques for the finest and most diverse handicrafts and other merchandise, places to eat, shop and party, this cosmopolitan barrio provides a wide variety of opportunities for artistic and cultural activities, including the National Museum of the Central Bank, the country’s largest and most complete museum for plastic arts.

So, whatever you may be looking for, La Mariscal has something for everyone. Begin exploring it now!

La Mariscal extends from south to north between the avenues of La Patria and Orellana and from west to east between the avenues of 6 de Diciembre and 10 de Agosto.
