With 46 protected ecosystems and habitats, Ecuador is an incredibly biodiverse country. The capital, is fortunately located very close to many of these protected lands, and as a result is an awesome destination to use as your home base for exploring areas surrounding the vibrant metropolitan and historical city. Quito is also located in the heart of the ‘Avenue of Volcanoes’, which are two parallel lines of volcanoes running along the spine of the Andes. On clear days if you go up to the top by cable car, you can admire at least four snowy peaks! Travelling on the roads through the Andes is an amazing and rewarding experience, where you will be charmed by the countryside and her rural communities.
