Useful Information
Avg. Rating:

Located in Quito's Historical District, it opened its doors for the first time in 1980, in order to showcase the work by Quiteño artist Camilo Egas, and to serve as a haven for artists from the time.

In 2003, the venue is seized and re-inaugurated, re-modeling the halls and services. In 2010 it falls under the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture and Heritage, renewing its museological narrative and maintaining its mission of safeguarding and democratizing the legacy of patrimonial works, as well as supporting emerging and communal art by implementing pedagogical – recreational tools aimed at diverse audiences: children, youths, art students, and the general public, both local and foreign.

Its services are: permanent and temporary exhibition halls, educational workshops, guided bilingual tours, educational programming and cultural events.

This museum houses the pictorial work of the modern Ecuadorian artist Camilo Egas, an icon of Ecuadorian art from the early XX century, precursor of Indeginism.
