Within the park is the famous "Churo" one of the viewpoints oldest colonial town, whose name is derived from the shape of a snail or churo as its name implies. From the top you can see places like the Basilica, the Hill of the Roll, and Pichincha. 

Walking trails through the park you can find several monuments, including the sculpture in honor of the French Geodesic Mission, and the monument to Bolivar. The first astronomical observatory in South America, also located in this park and to the surprise of many still working! It was built in 1876 and, at the time, had the best observation team. 

Currently, this place is open to the public who wishes to know about the astronomical instruments used in that era, such as the Hubble Merz. This charming park has a natural lagoon where you can enjoy boating, an activity that has developed over years and gradually has become a tradition.
